That is sad LK. Here is a backup plan idea to try. Have the kids show their own talents and get practice in front of groups by performing their own show.

Look around thrift stores for fun dress up clothes and props. Have the kids pretend to be clowns, actors, scientists, animal show hosts, magician, comedian, or their favorite cartoon character.

You can also teach kids how to make simple origami shapes, balloon animals, face painting, or crafts (check out a book about it at the library.)

Try to remember your days at summer camp. What sorts of fun games did you play? Play those with the kids.

The possibilities are endless.

I know this year is bad for the flu..
My perfomer had to cancel a HM show today because, she couldn’t stop vomiting and I could not for the life of me find a backup HM performer so, we had to cancel the one hour character visit.
Unbelievably sad and had no choice this is the first time and hope only time this will happen.

A great reminder during the flu season that both the birthday child and the educator might get the flu. Best to have back-up plans.

It is especially admirable of Reptiles Alive to be willing to find a replacement entertainer (read: competitor) in order to ensure the birthday party may go on.
